Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course extraterrestrial life exist ! Keep in mind the unbelievable number of solar systems in our own galaxy and the really uncountable number of galaxies in our universe, it would be very stupid to think that there is no one planet bringing life up.
I think it would be not a good idea to send any information into space because if any zivilisation can receive the signal and their technical level is high enougth to travel such long distances in a short time, they would have also the weapon technic to be serious danger for us. On the other site,if our signal is ever detected by another zivilisation our planet doesn´t exist anymore ;-)
So SETI runs only to kick some religious people very hard ass, showing them that GOD created them not by his own figure, and they are NOT the center of the Universe, but SETI would answer the very old question "ARE WE ALONE ?"
