With the universe as big as it is... I believe its just a matter of time and technology before contact is made (we are not the only ones). In what shape. form, or color.. they maybe, your guess is as good as mine. We won't know the benefits and or dangers until we get closer to that meeting. As far as the transmiting of a beacon, we're searching for something, so why not transmit something.
