Profile: Johnny DeJoode

Personal background
I am a 29 year old Dutch/Indonesian American. I work in the health care industry. My interests include sky watching, science and science fiction. I love animals, especially cats. My life companion is a Jewish woman (somebody beam me up, please! Ha! Ha!). She is truly the light in my world. We are both interested in extraterrestrials. We both lived in New Mexico as children and are very intrigued with the Roswell incident and the Socorro sighting. We now live in Florida near Gulf Breeze---a very active area for reported UFO sightings. We are excited about Seti@home and only hope that we find something in our lifetime.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life does exist...to believe that humans are the only intelligent life form in the Universe is simply arrogant. I don't know how or when humans will discover it, but I do feel that with the continued advancements in technology, it is only a matter of time. Benefits could be finding life advanced far beyond our own with cures for disease and other human frailties. On the opposite spectrum, we could find life forms with the capability to wipe out the human race with weaponry or disease. Someone said, "If you are alone in the jungle, don't scream out". If the great explorers of our past had not ventured out...
We run Seti@home to contribute in a small way to the big adventure.
