| Just another bum wasting CPU cycles who decided to put some of them towards a cause. It's either this or a screen saver. At least SETI is productive compared to bezier lines bouncing around. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1. As was mentioned in the movie Contact, it seems that considering the size of the known universe, it's a great waste of space if we're the only ones out here. Based on that it's worth some of my time to help the cause.
2. I think the project is quite sound. Odds cleary are that we are not alone. One the other hand, I think if we found something, the only benefit for a long time would be the knowledge that other intelligent life exists. Considering the distances involved, I think any visits would be out of the question for quite some time. The science behind the project is cool and it will be very worth it if something comes of it. To say nothing of the other projects that will benefit from BOINC.
