Personal background
Hi I'm Ralf
and I'm from Cologne, Germany. I live in the most northern suburb of cologne beside the river Rhine.
I was born in 1961.
The reason joining the group Space-Scouts-Cologne was beeing a scout in my youth. My hobbies are my family, sometimes the job (doing training for transmission networks) and computers since "the age of homecomputers" (like Commodore PET and C64, Schneider CPC). Nowadays unbelievable: I wrote my dissertation on Schneider CPC with 64KByte Main-Memory and Z80A 4 MHz CPU. And now: P4 2GHz (*500) and 256 MByte (*4000) which is nothing special (Ok crunchtime 3,5 - 4 h). I not interested in gaming and all that new stuff.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the absolute Yes or No is not really important. It's an interesting scientific job to scan the sky for information and compute the results with distributed CPU Power.

The Worlds Scout Foundation says: "Scouting develops self knowledge, the need to explore, to discover, to want to know". Thats not far away from the SETI project.
