Personal background
Hey everybody.. I'm a 21 year old guy who is currently attending Elizabethtown College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.. i have pretty much made up my mind that there is life somewhere else out there, and it's nice to know there are some organizations and tons of volunteers willing to help..
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think alien life does exist, but i don't know how soon it will be before it's discovered.. this seems like a good way to find them, but it seems more likely that a spaceship of ours would catch glimpse of something when they are actually up there.. Of course it would be great to find out that there is extraterrestrial life, but we would have to be cautious at first.. i've seen enough movies that you wouldn't want to jump into making some intergalactic treaties or anything..

Of course I think we shoud transmit a beacon for someone to find.. even if the life out there is hostile, i'd still like to know if it is out there.. it's one of the age-long questions, and any answer is better than no answer.. so we should use as many ways possible to find out..

I run seti@home because i like taking part in something larger.. it makes me feel like i can do something without pretty much doing anything.. just lending part of my cpu's processor out all the time.. the project seems great, although i would like to know how i can download multiple units so i could analyze more than one before i have to sign back on.. when i'm not at school, that gets tedious sometimes..
