Personal background
Hi, my name is Martin Pieschel. I'm a student of information technology in Kaiserslautern/Germany. Programming in C and JAVA are my favourite hobbies.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I believe that extraterrestrical live existst - the probability is high enough in our seamingly infinite universe.
2. The universe is too large for any radio-signals - it would be futile, because the speed of light is to slow. Perhaps a intelligent alien might recieve it sometime, but will mankind still exist at this time or will this sign of intelligence remember those aliens of an ancient lifeform?
3. At first I run seti because I have a fast computer and why should I waste so many cycles I don't use? My opinion is that people should benefit of fast CPUs' even if the likelyhood is low to find extraterrestrical signals, but who knows?
