Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My main reason for running the seti@home program is that I believe that there may be life out there, since this is one heck of a large universe. I figured why not let me computer join a noble cause and help search for what ever might be out there. I think that perhaps one day we might pick up a radio transmission, of course my computer being the one that finds it :) , but the odds of use being able to communicate back might be low since our signal would have to travel years to reach them. As far as actually sending a signal in reply I don't know about that. The aliens might or might not be hostile. Look at us, if some other life were to pick up our signals they might determine that we are hostile, since we are to ourselves, and might try to avoid alerting us of our existence. This would be a though call, to send or not to send...
