Personal background
I am a french canadian, 24 year old male (sometimes it isn't very obvious with my name), currently living in Saskatoon SK.

Originally from Ontario, I moved here to work with the only french language professionnal theatre company in Saskatchewan, La Troupe du Jour.

By schooling (Honours @ U. of Ottawa) I am a director, a lighting designer and an actor. However, I also give workshops, organise festivals, do stage managing and all sorts of other fun stuff... my greatest challenge is not transfering my pc habits (from home) to the mac at work (and vice versa)... it is quite frustrating i assure you to reach for the apple for a shortcut when there is none on your keyboard... or a million other examples.

What else? In my spare time i like to think. Since i dont have much spare time, i tend not to... :p

I really like reading, discussing and discovering new music. I also play chess and cook.

Joyeuses fˆtes,

Inouk
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is to me absolutely certain that life exists elsewhere.

I dont think we'll find anything for a long while yet, because we, as a race, are not mobile yet. We're at the very beging of our explorations and there is so much to do out there, that it will be quite a few centuries... if not milleniums.

My first assumption is that we rely on the physical senses which we have (sight, hearing, taste, touch, & smell)... but it seems logical to assume that our senses and theirs wouldn't be compatible... so we could "miss each other" a few times before we recognise each other as "intelligent"... or even "lifeforms"

But I like to believe we should meet on a peaceful basis... I just dont trust humans in general to be trusting enough to do that... (ahhh the irony).

My hope, is that what we find will be symbiotic with our type of organism... i.e. we contribute something to them, they contribute something to us...

2. the beacon thing, i think linear images are sound (circle, square, triangle, math symbols)... perhaps some basic rythms. I think we will need to start with those senses we know, and attempt to show that we exist on that level. After that we can see about true communication etc.

for question 3

I guess i find it interesting that we can all contribute in this project together. It seems to me that if we can all focus our energy to some worthy goal (like finding the little green people) then what matter our differences (which end up being a strength in almost all cases)?

I believe that once we find a common (and big enough) project, then we will have peace on earth (after way-to-many years of conflict)... the only sad part is i dont think we've found it yet. But we will... ohh we will! Who knows... if enough people get interested, this may develop into that project...

To prove my point, recent discoveries have clarified some of the mystery behind the building of the egyptian pyramids: It wasn't [only, or even a majority of] slaves who built them. It was a national project, and the peop
