Personal background
Greetings.
I am a family man with four children. I hold two degrees' and my better half is working on her first. We live in a very small town in the Pacific North West of the United States. We are open minded, light hearted and courious about the great unknowns. Hobbies include outdoor sports, hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing and boating.
someone once said, "We are not alone." Well, we feel the same way. We hold value in many things. Finding out if this statement was fact or fiction is just one of them.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Q-1) Answer. Part one. Yes.
Answer. Part two. It is of my personal feeling, we have already discovered extraterrestrial life on this planet. I don't think it was the "little green man, with bulding eyes" and only telopathic means for communication. I also feel we have had contact with other life forms in space. (I personaly wouldn't mind chatting with "ET" myself!)
Answer. Part three. My opinion is this: "The benefits of such contact could possibly go in two ways. One, that being the mutual aide of species as a whole. Be it Medical, Sciences, Planetary or just a better understanding of ourselves. This would be of great benefit. One the other side of the line is a much bleeker possible. We could be nothing more than a steping stone on a much grander food chain. I certainly hope the latter is not our destiny."

Q-2) Answer. Part one. Yes.
Answer. Part two. I feel we should send our location from within the solar system in relation to the sun. I think we should send a breif message: "You are not alone."

Q-3) Answer. Part one. Simply because I chose to.
Answer. Part two. I feel this is a good step in the right direction. After all, many hands make light work. Besides, we'd like to do are small part in hopes the 'contact' will benefit us all. (We pray it does anyway.)
Answer. Part three. As far as I can tell, the 'SETIatHome' has come a long way. It works much better than the previous versions. If I where the ones creating the programs, I would look towards an intragation of using the light/laser data with the radio data. Light is faster, more directional and can hold more infromation in a smaller package. This would be the only change I would be looking forward to at this time.
