Personal background
Hi all!
I'm 33. I work in a manufacturing plant in the engineering department.I live in nice dry Arizona, USA.
I'm running SETI@home 24/7 on an Athlon 1GHZ 500Mb ram, Celeron 400MHz 64Mb ram, and on my newest addition an Athlon 900MHZ 256Mb ram. they all run win98 SE. I love my computers...most of the time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I don't believe that there is any other life in the universe. Humans won the bigest lottery ever: To live and evolve into what we are today. The odds are one in, well, a universe that there is an intelligent society like ours out there. If there was the slightest, and i mean the slightest, proof of ETL, I'd be on board immediately. I only need a tiny reason to belive in such things.
2) We must do all that we can to satisfy our curiosity about what's out there. Mankind should never stop asking questions and diligently seeking out the answers. So, send beacons, send whatever type of information it takes to insure that we get our answers.
3) I donate FLOPs to SETI because, distributed computing has to be mankind's best idea ever for promoting teamwork. working together across geographic boundries shows great hope for humanity even in the face of the evil of Sept 11, 2001. If we can come together in programs like this, then the way is paved for us to come together again and again many more times for other and bigger distributed computing projects.
