Manic's SETI Profile

Oops.. my little green alien on the tool box appears to have tried to hide during this picture.

Born in 1962.. This means I grew up with Moon shots and Star Trek. Add in my father's extensive collection of sci-fi paperbacks from the 50s & 60s (plus my own collection of Heinlein) and you have the perfect fit for a SETIite. ;-)

Just a married middle aged mechanic muddling along letting our various computers crunch data from SETI & United Devices. I'd have more results but my Luddite boss decided I shouldn't have 'net access at my tool box CPU. :-(

If you haven't checked out Where's George yet.. Go do so! A rather interesting concept that involves tracking how US Currency travels in a very personal way. Very addicting.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) Yes. I don't know if we'll discover it before being contacted. The benefits could be numerous assuming their tecnology is more advanced than ours. Unfortunately there ARE dangers.. ask any American Indian what happened when Christopher Columbus dropped by for a "Meet & Greet".

2) Yes. I would probably suggest classical music.

3) Because I would LOVE to know that "we aren't alone". Overall it's well done, but the user area is a bit confusing and it would be nice to be able to click to your stats from the operating window.
