Personal background
I'm an 18 years old guy from Denmark (the little country in Northern Europe,
which many US citizens believe is the capital of Sweden),
and I have just started studying mathematics and physics at the
University of Aarhus.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe it is very important for mankind to do whatever our technology allows
us to do in order to try answering the one single question, which has occupied
civilizations of all times and all places: "Are we alone in the Universe, or
is there, possibly intelligent, life other places?" Personally, I believe that
we cannot be alone, and that it is only a matter of time before we make contact,
or at least discovers, another life form. I also believe that, unfortunately,
the destructive nature of mankind could destroy our civilization before this
contact is made.
I think we should send signals to outer space for two main reasons:
1) There might be other civilizations who are just as keen as we are to finding
the answer to the above question.
2) If the human race for some reason or other should become extinct within the
next couple of thousand years (nuclear war, metheor impact etc.), there is a
chance that the signal will be intercepted by another civilization, and thus
leaving som sort of memory of us.
