Personal background
As I was born in the state of Maine (not confusion as so many seem to think!), I am proud to call myself a true-blue Maineac. After becoming a registered nurse at the New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, I became a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

After working for awhile in Biloxi, Mississippi, I returned to Illinois, married and did some star gazing... the wonderful movies 2001, A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Contact and the amazing programs of Carl Sagan, it made me wonder about other life forms.

I'm just another one of many who believe in this project, and now live in Florida where life is good and the weather a delight all year round. May I live long enough to see some positive results from all our searching!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I would hope that we are also transmitting a beacon for others to find. I am clueless as to what an intergalactic language would be... music comes to mind, in that music reaches everyone on some level.
