How did you find out about SETI@home?
Something around 3 1/4 years ago I clicked on a banner and found SETI@home. I heard of this project before but have never taken a deeper look at it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that the concept that we are the only intelligent race in the entire universe is absurd. The timeframe for confirmation of that is essentially unknowable. I do not think that we should advertise our presence in the galaxy beyond what we already do in the form of broadcast signals from existing radio sources. We might regret it. If after looking for decades, we find a signal, a few more years spent making (relatively) sure of the sender's intent won't be an undue burden. SETI@Home is a world-wide effort. The results, if successful, would also be world-wide in scope. Therefore, it would behoove every citizen of the world who is able to assist the project to whatever extent that he or she can. Towards that end, I willingly share my clock cycles.
