I am a general practitioner in the Uk with a keen, albeit amateur interest in science and astronomy. I enjoy being able to do my bit for big science even if itis Blue Sky stuff. I am also keenly interested in Natural history (I keep stick insects too!) and all things scientific. And if SETI succeeds? try and visit them!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think intelligent life is probably rare in this region of space though dumber vsarieties probably abound but I can't see bacteria making radio telescopes!
2. Yes, I should think we pretty safe from being invaded by aliens - after all we not doing too bad a job in destroying our own planet all by ourselves.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
