Profile: Keith Starsmeare

Personal background
I was born in Fareham,Hampshire (England) and moved up to Ellon, Aberdeenshire (Scotland) with my family when I was 10. I went on to study Computing Science at Edinburgh University with the goal of becoming a secondary school teacher teaching Computing. However I realised I was at odds with the teaching community in thinking that programming was an important part of the course. So I left to use my programming skills for myself! I've been a Localisation Enginner for Macintosh and Windows software. Then a Software Engineer supporting and developing unix debuggers. And now I'm a (Software) Developer working with Java on Windows for the Neverfail Group.

I love reading and watching Science both fact and fiction.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that there must be extraterrestrial life and hopefully that there's other intelligence within our galaxy. (The universe is just too damn big!)

We should be a shining beacon in the darkness to other intelligent life.

As Eric Idle sang:
"pray that there's intelligent life out there in space
because there's bugger all down here on earth."
