I think it would be very arrogant to think we humans are the only intelligent lifeform in the universe. We exhibit such intolerance for our fellow man; I doubt ETs will be apt to want to interact with us. If we can't accept one another here on Earth, how can we possibly be accepting of any other form of life?
When I was a child, growing up in south central Texas, I would put a quilt on the ground in my backyard, lie down, and gaze at the stars. I always felt, and still do, such a melancholy longing, as if I were waiting for a long-lost friend. Now, living in Arizona, I still watch the stars and planets with my telescope and am enjoying sharing this pleasure with my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter, Amaya.
I have participated in SETI@home for 2 years now. I look forward to continuing with one of the upcoming SETI projects. |
