| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1. I believe extraterrestrial life exists, why else would I be on this site. Quoting from Contact, "So if it's just us, it seems like an awful waste of space." I believe that the movie contact is a relitively good representation of how I feel they will contact us. Benifits: advanced technology, advanced medicine, better view of our universe, maybe a more stable world. Dangers: more powerful weapons, advanced biological weapons, or even possible invasion and take over (we've screwed up this planet pretty bad already so maybe they will leave us alone).
2. I have been running SETI@home since 2000, so I believe it is a good use of spare CPU cycles. This is just another way to get ET to give us a return call.
I run the program because I believe that what I am doing may be benificial. Even if it is in a minute amount. Great project because the more data compiled into usefull information the better.
3.I think that this is well under control and I can't think of anything to improve it as of now. |
