Personal background
I live in Washington state, I'm 36 years old and manage a processing plant. My hobbies are playing music on my keyboards, traveling to Mexico and looking at the stars. When I was a child and lived in Mexico, I used to lay in the middle of the road in our small unpopulated and trafficless town and look at the stars. I remember that on two ocasions I saw flying objects in the sky that remain inmovil and silent; this was before I had any knoweledge about UFO's. Since then I have been intrigued to find out if we are alone. The sky is too vast for us to think that there is no other form of life out there and we must find it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I beleive that there is a possibility of extraterrestial life if the environment is right in a certain planet. I also think that as advanced as our civilization is, we have a long way to go to develop the technology that will help us uncover any signs of life in another solar system. If we find life in outer space, it could be the demise of planet earth as we know it if we act as humans. If we try to colonize each other the result would be an inminent war. We have sent the pioneer spacecraft with incriptions about our solar system, but it is traveling at a speed that is too slow to benefit our current generation in any way. We need to send a simple powerful beam with desciferable information that can travel faster than the craft to increase the possibility of being "heard". SETI is what humanity needs to help find the answers to the question "Are we alone?". I hope I can contribute to this cause.
