Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists - well, yeah? Duh.
How will humans discover it - let's dream, through a dataset I send back to Seti@Home?
Benefits and dangers? One of two things will happen when we discover alien life - they'll eat us, or we'll eat them. No middle ground. Maybe we'll do better with the second alien lifeforms we find. :)
Should humans trasmit a beacon? Certainly.
What information should be in it? We're looking for any recurring signal that's not terrestrial - so, maybe just send out beep beep and leave it at that?
Why do I run Seti@Home? Just in case it works? How cool would that be?
