Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Other life in the Universe, I guess the answer to this depends on your theory of the Universe.

Few people think that the existence of other life is impossible. Assuming that a possibility exits, no matter how small, then in an infinite Universe there are an infinite number of other life forms. That doesn’t mean that we will ever encounter them, or that we will survive as a race to the point where we will be able to extend our search beyond the simple gathering of radio waves they might generate. But, their existence is unquestionable.

People have faith in many things: ghosts, love, a higher power (in whatever form), humanity. Why is it such a stretch for the mind to acknowledge the existence of other life. Didn’t we once believe the sun revolved around the earth? It would be interesting to see what history has to say about us.
