Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Extraterrestrial Life: Quite possible, not proved, worth the effort
to keep ears 'open'. Would be wonderful to contact our elders if any. Too much
to learn. If such people exist, we are the new neigthbours, must listen
before talking.
No beacons, please. Keep listening and learning before trying
to get noticed. We have only one planet after all. I guess there are good
and bad guys around there. Thats life.
Running SETI: Very big idea, global human effort that deserves
collaboration from everybody. Also the first computer sharing program
with any success ever. All this by itself is enough to recommend SETI.
I would suggest more advertising. Lot of people is running stupid
screensavers. Lot of computer power lost. To atract them maybe new/several
'look and feel' on screen, and different optional styles of graphics, etc.
Some bells and whistles. |
