Profile: virindi

Personal background

Well, my real name is Sarah. (That's me on the left!) Virindi is one of our many machines at home. My fiance (The guy on the right!) and I are running many machines here, with the theme of Asheron's Call monsters. Drudge is also one of our machines. Soon, we will also add Monouga and hopefully Whitebunny to our SETI clan.

When I'm not playing Asheron's Call, I am either at work or at school or doing something with my fiance. Both of us are Computer Science and Engineering Technology majors at the University of Toledo. We work in their College of Arts & Sciences College Computing department. In our spare time, we can be found: cooking/baking, playing games, seeing a movie, listening to music, just hanging out with friends, tending to our fish, doing volunteer work, or watching our friend perform in plays.

The volunteer work I do involves being the Reviews Editor for ACM Crossroads. Working with students throughout to the world to get a publication out for students, by students, has been entertaining. Check out our work sometime -- and when issue 8.3 comes out, look forward to seeing a review of the SETI@Home website!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have to wonder if extraterrestrial life is out there. Just recently, I've gotten into watching Star Trek, and their storyline with first contact and interaction with other species definitely makes me think. My fiance has been following Star Trek for awhile now and some of the things that happen aren't that unreasonable of suggestions for what happens. Even watching ET back when I was a kid had me interested, but I wasn't sure what to believe.

I think there is another life form out there. Where out there? Probably many many light years away. However, I have no other clue as to what it could be.

It'd definitely be interesting to see what would happen if first contact happens while I'm alive. To see the world's reaction -- that would be something to go down in history.
