Personal background
Hello My Name is Paul McKeever. I am from Albuquerque New Mexico and have always been interested in the search for evidence that intelligent life exists on other planets. I am a student taking classes in computer science and computer animation. I also scuba dive and build performance cars. I believe that finding evidence of life somewhere else is a matter of when not if, the idea that we are the only evolved species in the entire universe is rediculous. We have been around for only a fraction of a second in scale to the rest of the universe which means there are other planets out there that have had at least a billion years head start on us. That day, when it comes, will be quite a day.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is possible that shaking the hornets nest could bring untold dangers from across the universe, but if they have the technology to get here they probably have the means to detect us and already know we exist and would have done something by now. We may even be blocked from finding out we are not the only intelligent life in the universe, alowing us to evolve and develope without interferrence. Part of the problem I see is that if beings from another world have a huge head start on us they may not use radio waves to communicate because they travel so slowly that across space they would be useless. We may pick up some local transmitions from the actual interplanet communication but they may use a higher form of communication that is undetectable with radio receivers. There is also the possibility that we may find a planet that is close to ours in technology that still uses radio waves and is similar to our course of advancment. What it comes to is we must search and we must try even if it is dangerous because it is our nature as humans, we must know.
