Personal background
I have always been a stargazer, so this seemed to be the next step. My Starry Night software shows me where my latest workunit is from, which peaks my curiousty even more. I have a science background - my bachelor's is in Biochemistry but my Masters is in (gasp) Humanities - Public Administration to be more specific. I'm currently employed at a Water Utility in the San Francisco Bay Area. My hobbies are varied -I love to travel, biking along the sfbay trails, learning how to quilt and whitewater rafting. When I heard about SETI@home I joined immediately, I've been a member since 9/99.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI because I can't stand the idea of a computer sitting around collecting dust. Seriously, I think it would be completely awe-inspiring to be a particiant of a project that detects an ET signal.
