Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I personally believe that if extraterrestrial life exist, it is not at our technological level - otherwise we would have found it by now. I do however believe that the possiblity definitely exist. We have much to learn about ourselves and our universe if we do find alien beings...but we could also make them aware of our flaws.

I believe that we should transmit signals to the far regions in the hopes of finding someone else out there. The proper data to send is almost impossible to determine...how are we suppossed to know how alien beings are to interpret what we send them? Anyone who has read "Sphere" by Michael Crichton knows what I am talking about.

I run Seti@home mainly because of my interest in distributed computing. I think this is the type of research that the Internet was really intented for and what it's performance really shines.
