Personal background
I'm 31 years old, living in Schertz, TX. I'm a full time student going for an associates degree in applied science, computer and electrical engineering technologies.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I do think extraterrestrial life does exist. Most likely lower life forms. It will probably be quite some time, centuries, before we discover life on another planet. Robotic probes will probably find life on other worlds. The benefits of this type of discovery could be many or few depending on the location and type of life found. The dangers could be that the life we find may be harmful to humans biologically, viruses, bacterium, and other microbes are more likely to exist than complex life forms.

2. Of course humans should send out multiple beacons for others to find. We should send information about our planet, technologies, and if nothing else, just say "hello out there." The odds of a timely response are slim to none when we consider the time it takes for messages to cross space.

3.I'm naturally curious and that is why I run SETI@home. The project is a good one. We never know who might have sent messages towards our little part of the universe. It's always nice to know that there is a possibility that intelligent life may exists in other parts of our galaxy and universe.
