Personal background
My name is Derek. I'm 35 from Toledo Ohio U.S.A.!!!
I'm a drywall sub contractor by trade & have been
interested in astronomy since grade school.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There is no doubt in my mind that other intelligent beings exist in the
universe. With the universe being so vast & so much unknown about it,
it's folly to think we are alone. I also belive our government already
discovered extraterrestrial life at Roswell. The benefits in technology
have been great. Compare how fast technology advances after Roswell than
before the Roswell incident.

The dangers of dicovery & visitations may be: new diseases & viruses,
something worse than Osama bin Laden, and some technology that could fall
into the wrong hands,or just be too much for us to use wisely.

Transmitting a beacon seems like a good idea, however, maybe we should
wait and hear what kind of beings are there. We would'nt want to attract
any meanies! We have enough of those already!

I run SETI@home because I have been interested in astonomy since grade school
and I feel like I'm really getting involved in the search for intelligent
life. I hope that me & my little computer will be the fist to find a
radio transmission from space. I think SETI is great& SETI@home even greater!
