Profile: Killer Terminal

Personal background
Well, my handle is Killer Terminal. If you want to know about me, here I am:

I'm 17 years old.
I live in the United States.

I live for computers... I've been using various types of computers since I was four.

In 1988, I got my first computer, a Commodore 64C. In 1993, I got my first Macintosh: a Quadra 605. I got my first PC (an NEC Ready 9710) in 1996. I've acquired various computers since then, and am currently in my fourth year of Computer Science and the second year towards my CCNA (for those that are technologically less saavy, CCNA means Cisco Certified Networking Associate).

The other things I live for are space, physics, and astronomy. I've been looking toward the stars as long as I can remember. Astronomical phenomena amaze me as I study them in my free time. I can't imagine a single-species (Human) universe. There must be other intelligent beings out there!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Let's answer these questions:

1. Yes, I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. As I said in my personal background, I can't imagine a whole universe without any other intelligent life. When will we discover it? Who knows? Perhaps never. But I intend to try. There are various first contact scenarios, but I believe the most probable one is the "Star Trek" scenario. We discover some fundamental thing like traveling faster than light, and then we're considered "technologically sophisticated" enough to be contacted by the extraterrestrials in the universe. Dangers about this discovery: well, we could be confronted by hostile aliens at first contact that kill us all. Or, we encounter peace-loving aliens and an invaluable exchange of ideas and technology takes place. In either case, humankind will never be the same.

2. Yes, most definitely! How else should we be found? Include a personal message in every known language (a friendship message) and all the physical constants we know.

3. I run SETI@home to help the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. It's a noble thing, you know? It looks good enough to me as it is. No suggestions.
