Profile: James Halstead

Personal background
I'm from Haledon New Jersey, I'm 46 years old. I program and troubleshoot computer operated environmental control systems. I am also a volunteer firefighter (Captain), and CO-director for the Haledon Office of Emergency Management, with training in radiological safety, detection, and recovery. I'm married, and have a twenty year old Daughter. I enjoy a wide variety of music and literature, the Adirondack Mountains in New York, I have a built up 97 Dodge Ram 4by4, which is the only one like it in, or around New Jersey, My wife and I enjoy moonlight drives in our satin pajamas, or stop near a lake and just gaze at the stars. I like to shoot competitively, but I do not hunt, I love all animals great and small. And I have a passion for tinkering with computers and electronics.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe life exists elsewhere in our universe and beyond.
I think if we are going to discover life beyond our own, we will need to discard the arrogance that we are the only living beings God has created, I bring God into this, because I think life was not created from what some call, "The big bang theory" Life has too much of a purpose and raison d'être to it, to be created "accidentally" I think if we are going to meet those of another civilization, we are going to have to learn to live with ourselves, before we can understand beings from another world, they may be listening to us now, and it might be posable that they are frightened by what they hear......or see. I run SETI@HOME, because I am a star gazer and a dreamer, and SETI@HOME helps me to gaze farther than my dreams will allow me.
