I'm crunching since 1999 and it's just plain fun. Besides user and team competition, it is a great way to combine idle computerpower with a scientific project.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Our galaxy is estimated to contain 200 billion stars. And there are probably more than one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe. It is silly to think 'we are alone'. Some (intelligent) life must be out there, in fact, i am quite sure (intelligent) life is a common thing in the universe. It will be a matter of time to find it. I hope Seti@Home will do the trick.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
