Personal background
I was born in 14 October 1982 in the city of Yambol in Bulgaria.
When I became 11 years old I began participating in Mathematic Competitions.
I had some success in beating the others and earned the privilege of entering
any high-school in my countrywithout taking exams.When I entered high-school I
stopped participating in Mathematic Competitions and began participating in
Informatic Competitions and last year I earned the privilege of entering any
University in my country without taking exams. Now I am going to study Informatics
in the University of Sofia. The only thing that prevented me from entering the
National team and go to a IOI was a massive bad luck.I am running the program
at home on two computers a Celeron 300Mhz with 64MB Ram and a Celeron 566Mhz
with 64MB Ram.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.If realty realy exists there is very small possibility that there is no other
life in the Universe.According to the vast number of stars even in our galaxy
there might be millions of stars with planets orbiting around them so there
should be thousands with the climate similar to the Earth's so there should be
hundreds of planets with life on it.So there should be at least one planet where
the life has evolved like here and there are humanoid aliens. As a matter of fact
life can occure even on planets with severe climate for humans resulting in a
non-humanoid life form.It cannot be said when the people will find out other
life in space but it depends very much on the researches and the "probabilyty"
that we may "hear" their beacon. There might be scientific advantages of finding
aliens but we could as well be more advanced than them.If we are more advanced
we have not to worry about them being hostile but if they are more advanced that
would mean either a scienific breakthrough or a wiping out of the human race if
they are hostile.
2.We should transmit a beacon if someone intercepts it we wouldn't have to worry
about it because we would be dead by the time that someone comes. We should send
the possition of our galaxy in the universe and the position of the solar system
in our galaxy etc. Also we should send the changing factor of the universe.
3.It is better to crack the enourmous data to small pieces and give it to many
small computers to analyse instead of building supercomputers because the power
of all the computers in the world is bigger that even the power of several of
the most powerful supercomputers buit ever.(kinda like the Douglas Addams'
"Hitch hikrs guide to the galaxy").For now I have no suggestions to give because
I am not advanced enough but If I have an idea I will share it.
