I am a 35 year old accountant from Calgary, Alberta. I got interested in the sciences at an early age and have been fascinated with both astronomy and cosmology for the longest time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that there is extraterrestrial life. Humans will discover this life by careful observation, such as being preformed at Arecibo. The benefits will be limited to knowing that we are not alone at first. Eventually, when we dechipher the language and find away to communicate back and forth quickly other benefits may be received.
The danger is that we have no idea what is out there or what they are like (think Borg here).
I run SETI@home because I believe that more should be done to find Extraterrestrial Intelligence before it finds us.
