Profile: Tim Fraser

Personal background
I completed a degree in Metalsmithing (2001) at Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Canada. I prefer working in silver and I'm trained to weld, forge and cast metals. The tides beckoned and I recently moved to the West coast with my wife Karla Maria. Living and exploring in Vancouver Island has been a blast so far. I wander around the net learning techgeek things in my spare time. :)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Not finding aliens does not settle this debate. In fact, the only way to settle this debate is to find something. In other words, this debate is asymmetric, and my position alone can be proven right. I mean, I may not win, but my opponent cannot win.
-Seth Shostak, public programs scientist for the SETI Institute
WASHINGTON, April 17, 1999

I support SETI@home because idle computers need something to do when we don't use them. Space really is the final frontier and who are we kidding by thinking we are the only ones tumbling around in it?
