Personal background
Engineer by trade, (cynic by profession). I started running SETI as I thought it was a 'good thing'. I was also intrigued with the distributed processing idea.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes 'ET' exists. I think he/she will show up fairly soon, but the discovery will be by accident not design, these thing always are :) The social/economic impact of ET's existence will be interesting, the only sure thing is that there will a period of extreem change.

We have no need to signal ET, we already blast the universe with stuff from all over the EMS. If they want to find us, they already know where we are, and what were really doing.

I do 'Seti' as it's one of the best things to happen on the web in a long time, long may it continue.
Suggestion's?.... Update the software and incorporate some of the functions contained in the patches and add-ons?
