Personal background |
Hi, I'm Jan aka "Chijanofuji", a 38 year old male from the Netherlands, and I have been working with computers for as long as I can remember! :-)
My hobbies are: astronomy, ancient history (I collect coins of the Roman Emperors), Sumo wrestling, movies - especially classic comedies from the 1950's and 60's -, music (from Elvis through the Carpenters to heavy metal bands like Kiss!) and er... computers! ;-)
If you want to know more about some of my hobbies, you can visit my websites at:

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I have always been interested in Astronomy and manned spaceflight, so the concept of life existing on extraterrestrial planets to me is a logical conclusion borne out from the statistical probabilities of the vastness of the universe.
During a stint as moderator of a FidoNet dicussion group on UFO's in the mid 1990's - where any sane person soon learns how to become a sceptic and becomes a defender of Carl Sagan's thesis that "extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence" - I once exchanged a few e-mails with Seth Shostak from SETI. As a result of this I became interested in the concept of finding extraterrestrial signals with radio telescopes. Naturally this meant I eventually had to become a passively active member (through my PC) of the SETI@home project! ;-)
