Personal background
I'm a 41 year-old Systems Administrator specializing on AlphaServers using OpenVMS. I have been working on VMS sine 1981. I'm one of those people who started in computers before there were PC's everywhere (translation: Old Fart.)

I have traveled quite a lot, especially in the MidEast. The last place I worked in the MidEast was at the Higher Colleges of Technology, where I first discovered the SETI project and started using as the standard screen saver when installing PC's. Being in charge of the IT Hardware for the college helped with that.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As for ET's, I do believe they are out there somewhere and probably observing our world. I thing there will come a time when they may step into our world to either learn from us or teach us. I don't believe they will be hostile but one never knows. If they are hostile, I hope we can deal with them but the fact that they would be able to come here from their home would probably indicate they are technologically more advanced. Psyhcologists will tell you that as a world becomes more advanced technologically they become less hostile. Sometimes I wonder if that theory is actully true or not though. I guess the only thing we can do is cross our fingers and hope that they are friendly. It's pretty much a crap shoot on this.
