Profile: Dr. Blau

Personal background
I'm a rather youngish guy from Sweden.

I live in Kista, Stockholm (you may know it as Sweden's Silicon Valley... ...or not).

I have three friends who like to do SETI work on their spare time.

There is a G4 Cube (450 Mhz) called Thorsten, and an iBook 2 (600 Mhz) called Thorvald.

The latest addition to the crew is a G4 iMac (800 Mhz) called Thorgny.

Hopefully in the near future there will be more Mac's gathered under my roof doing SETI work on their own time...

I'm sorry there's no picture available, but Thorsten didn't want his photo taken.

Something about it sucking his soul up, and fear of becoming a PC...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that SETI is a really good thing.

Not only because it could help us answer that age old question, but also since it acts like a stort of "computer's UN".

People from all over the world bring their computers togheter for one purpose.

They can also interact, form teams, get to know each other.

It's like one of those silly communities, but this one is acctually cool, and the interaction is not the primary here, but it exists...

The age old question may not be answered just now, and it may never be.

But the thing is that we are trying... ...really hard.

Maby we'll discover something else instead, radio waves can be many things.

And to answer the question if we should transmit beacons ourselves: Yup.

Why shouldn't we give SETI users all over the universe the chance to find us?
