Personal background
I am a technology addict who cannot stay away from a computer for too long or I might turn into a gremlin.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life must exist, I am not about to say how intelligent it may be though. Humans may never discover an ET lifeform that we can actually communicate with. We are harldy a spec of dust on geologic time, much less astronimical 'time'.

Humans are always doing amazingly silly things some times. Why not shoot beams into space hoping some form of life perceives it as non threatening. I cannot know what information should be sent.

I run Seti@home because the universe fascinates me. It's chaotic charm and beauty puts many things on our planet into perspective. Maybe we are not alone, maybe we are alone at this time. We would be ecstatic to happen upon some signals beamed around from an intelligent source, even if the signals are millions of years old. Why not throw our hats into the ring?
