Profile: Dennis Shepard

Personal background
I am a 51 year old, electrical maintenance supervisor for a food processing plant in Portland Maine. Single for the past 12 years, work and playing around on the computer has been about all that I have done. Beside a couple of weeks, running around Angle Falls in South America. I had plan on trying to hang glide off the cliffs, however, the government down there stop me in my tracks. I guess I was really too old to be jumping off some cliff anyway.
I have been running Seti for over a year now on my system.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I choose to believe that there are a nomber of well defind solar systems out there, and that it would seem to be a very slim chance to say that there were no life, beyound ours. I beleive that Seti is our biggest hope in finding that life. That the work that the people due at Sati may one day, change the face of the earth. My point of view is that we should transmit a beacon. Lets face it if there is life out there and if we really do want to meet them, then they have a better chance at picking our single up then we do their's. Not to say that we can not. I run Seti because I beleive in Seti, plus it gives me the idea that this computer I have is really doing something.
