Personal background
Hi! Good to meet ya! My name is Janise. I live in the state of Washington, married to a wonderful man, been blessed with five great kids and adopted a howling beagle named Henry. (Days I wish I would have thought a little more carefully about adding the beagle!)
My hobbies include stitching, reading, and hiking when I can; my passions are ancient cultures and astronomy. The two combined make for some interesting reading!
I work for a grocery store on the wonderful front-end, checking out groceries.
The job isn't at easy at it looks because customer service is the name of the game and there are times when the customer isn't always right! Not to mention all the tricks of the trade one has to learn... blah.. blah... blah... but I love my job!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been studying ancient cultures and astronomy for quite some time now and I believe that, to coin a phrase, "we are not alone". There is too much evidence on our planet that points to "visitors". And the universe is so endless, that it is pretty presumptious of man to think that he is the only intelligent life in existence. I know that all sounds like rhetoric, but I truly believe it. I think it's a wonderful idea to let the universe know that man has reached a point in which he is capable of advanced technologies and no longer entirely primitive. We have grown and will continue to do so. I thik it would be great to contact life somewhere out there. Just imagine what we could learn... All we think we know, all the accomplishments, beliefs, everything, our whole existence, would be put into question. That, in itself, is awesome!
