Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?
Certainly. Everything from microbes to fully sentient beings.
When and how will humans discover it?
Maybe today, maybe not for another 100 years. On the other hand, maybe some humans are already aware of it and are keeping to themselves!
What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
Rapid technological advancement to solve the greatest human problems e.g. disease, starvation, etc. Deep space travel. Increased intelligence and awareness. Spiritual growth.
Culture shock. Biological contamination. Rapid technological advancement with now moderating code of ethics or integrity.
Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?
Yup, why not.
