Personal background
I'm from Germany, Mannheim. Currently I'm 23 years old any study economics (5th semester) Since my PC is running all the time... and most of if idle, i thought this would be a little contribute to SETI, and - who knows - maybe I'll discover ET... ;)
My hobbies are computing, programming, astrophysics, going to the gym (rather seldomly) and some other sports...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am certain there is life out there! would be a waste of space otherwise... :)
I don't think well disvocer themm to soon (but who knows) either they are not able to send signals yet, or we woun't know it's a signal or their signals are send in a way we just can't read them.
The benefits of discovering ET wouldn't be so great either, because the chance of them being able to travel the vast distances and even want or be ably to comunicate with us are terribly small (despite the time a signal needs to travel).
Though it would start a new era, knowing we are not alone could help bring countries together, maybe stop some wars, and combine recources to develop better space vehicles.
It would be a good idea not to only rely on them to send signals, but also send some info about us, our location, our species and evironmental settings (climate etc.)
