Profile: Tommie Carter

Personal background
I'm a New Yorker with a Computational background. I work as a Computer Consultant for a number of highly visible clients in the New York City area.

I'm a chess fan; I play not infrequently at zone.msn.com/chess. I think that SETI is a valuable enterprise which everyone ought to continue supporting.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If it's just us then there's an awful waste of space. Quite inefficent. Seeking is not the same as Finding, if discovered we may think better of it later. We have the ability to destroy ourselves but not necessarily others. We should be sending a non-referential probe which allows us to see others but not necessarily the reverse.

I run SETI@home because I think the possibility is a worthwhile venture. I think the project is a valid, insightful use of multi-lateral computing time and wish I'd've thought of it myslef (for some industrial purpose).

I would like the project to make it easier to change the password associated with my account. I'd prefer some time of alphanumeric (binary, hex and decimal combination) password that I could construct of my own choosing.
