Personal background
Member of the Sydney Thirsty Hash House Harriers - on on!

If we ever contact ET, we will be sure to invite he, she or it for a run...

Seriously though I have always been interested in Science ever since I took out my first library book which was about dinosaurs. Reluctantly I never took on a career in Science, but chose instead to go for Computing.

Nevertheless I remain a dedicated 'armchair scientist' and I always keep in touch with what is going on.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home as it is an interesting science project to participate in.

Personally I don't think we will ever find ET in this galaxy, the odds are against it. Either other technological civilisations have come and gone, or we are the first (and it took approx. 3.5 billion years for that fluke to finally happen).

Yes my views are pessimistic. But most pessimists are delighted to be proven wrong!

So I participate in SETI@home for the science. And the chances are good that in searching for ET, other wonderful discoveries will be made.
