Personal background
Being a second year french pHD student in physical chemistry, my principal occupation is to wander around in an overlighted laboratory. During the few waking hours I am allowed to dispose of, I read, go out with some friends, or stare at the appaling ceiling of the small flat I rent.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life should exist, but I am very doubtful of the possibility to contact an extraterrestrial lifeform, because of the probably very huge distance between us. Nevertheless, I really hope for the discovery of life out ther, and if there is danger, then so be it!

I am no specialist of signal dissipation, and certainly not in space, so I have o idea of the real possibility of sending a powerful beacon through lightyears of space, but I am in favour of it. The message could be "dont go toward the light".

When I found out about the seti@home program (that is 42 minutes ago), I was happy to let my computer help to the task, besides its main occupation which is mainly to increase entropy.
