Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Statistically and as a biologist I belive that life must exist on other planets. Benifits, new culture, foods technology. Dangers, disagrements between planets, i.e. if technology is sufficient to visit another planet the weapons availible may be highly destructive.
2. Yes a becon should be transmitted. The human genetic code should be transmitted as binary code.
3. I run it in the background at home and at work because I think the processor should be fully used while my PC is on, at work my processor is under low load as most of my work involves text manipulation and web pages. The project is a good idea as the final goal will be reached much quicker. Possibly improve the analysis engine to make use of extra processors in a system, i.e. graphics processors on 3D cards are essentially maths processors.
