Personal background
Studying computer science in sweden, loves to program and play computer games.
I like roleplaying games especially one that is called "Hârn" and "HârnMaster"
I was born in 1970. Who in their "right" mind :) isn't interested in "is there anyone out there?" and whom they might be? One of my all time favorite shows on TV was "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan. My father recorded it when it was sent on TV 1980, but he missed 3 episodes and I haven't seen them until they released the DVD boxset. If someone asked me "Who would you like to meet, alive or dead?" I would auto-response with "Carl Sagan".
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It would seem ignorant to believe we are alone. The sheer amount of galaxies and then stars in them is totally mind-boggeling so yes.. I think there is life out there..I just hope it's intelligent. Sometimes it's hard to find intelligent life here :) Dangers? I would think it is moderatly dangerous in a meeting between species, however the danger would come later if differences makes us and them conflict to much. The mere possibility of us discovering them is reason enough for trying. Anyhow I think the religious aspects of our life should be as small as possible, in the 10^-100 range and preferably lower. It should definately be avoided when talking to an alien species, what if a new friendy religious interstellar war commences? Would we lose? Maybe they don't believe in god and that is a crime in their eyes? Better to avoid the issue.

So a transmission of any kind should include the cultural aspects like music, pictures, languages, technology, emotions?

It is running fine from what I can tell, but then again I can't tell very much :) I run it because I can. For the em-betterment of human kind. Because several of my computer do squat. So many people enjoy the concept of aliens that if you "program it, they will come"
