Personal background
I'm 21 years old, I live with my wonderful boyfriend who introduced me to this site, as he remembers participating not long after it's initial debut. As silly as it seems, I loved the movie "Contact" which was my first introduction to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. Ever since, the subject has fascinated me, along with the theories about quantum physics and teleportation. We both play Dark Age of Camelot in our spare time, which isn't much, as we both work full time :) In addition to being a total geek, I paint (pictures, not houses), read (over 800 books in my personal collection alone...) and am in the process of writing a fantasy novel.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that we, as a society are studying the possibility of Extraterrestrial life and intelligence is a signal in and of itself that we are not completely selfish and self-serving. There may be intelligent life out there, and if so, I hope they are benevolent creatures here to grant my everywish...whoops, that's my fairy godmother dream... Actually, I just hope that when and if we contact each other, it won't be a 'Universal War' because I do believe that we would be at an extreme disadvantage. I do have a feeling that if Alien life forms are discovered and/or contacted, it will be unfortunate, because the average person has an innate distrust of what they do not know, which may prove disastrous for any 'peace talks' between our races. But that's just the bad side...of course they *could* be here to grant our wishes and escort us into a new age of technology :)

As for SETI@home, I LOVE it! I love the idea, and the participation. I just wish I had known about it sooner! I feel like I'm doing my little part to help, and I plan to send the links out to as many people as I can contact :) Thanks for making this available and for all your hard work :)
